Joe Biden Not in Demand on the Post-Presidency Speaking Circuit

A humorous look at what happens when supply outstrips demand.

What’s a poor former president to do when he’s struggling to make a buck? Joe Biden is reportedly not finding many takers for speaking gigs. The New York Post exclusively revealed that, according to a source familiar with the latest in what seems to be a long line of Biden schemes to cash in on high office, the recently sidelined chief executive charges $300,000 for a speech, but the agency representing him isn’t doing many – or maybe any – bookings. That fee is a remarkable coincidence, since 300,000 is the exact number of verbal gaffes Joe Biden made between the first time he opened his mouth on the Senate floor in 1973 and 12:00 pm on April 21, 2025.

New Banner - Graham Noble Banner with CopyOf course, this is the bargain basement of ex-presidents. Barack Obama charged a cool $400,000 a talk, and Bill Clinton, on at least one occasion, scored $500,000. Then again, that astronomical fee was paid by the Russians and may have had something to do with Clinton’s then-secretary of state wife and a favorable decision, for the Russians, on US uranium rights – but that’s another story.

According to The Post, Joe Biden also demands a private jet and five staffers if he needs to travel to give a speech.

Joe Biden Non Grata

Speaking isn’t exactly Biden’s strong suit. One wonders who wants to fork over 300 grand to have an eighty-something-year-old whisper far-fetched childhood tales while randomly screaming about Donald Trump. And, though no one who has ever respected Joe Biden would say it out loud, his seeming inability to differentiate between the truth and what he wants to believe may be off-putting.

Addressing a conference in Chicago recently, Biden felt the need to remind his audience that, when he was a child, black children were referred to as “colored kids.” It seemed gratuitous. He is well known for casually making racially charged remarks – which may be a little too much for the delicate ears of today’s students and latte-sipping corporate apparatchiks.

Apparently, some people in the 46th president’s inner circle want him earning even more for a speech. It seems the man at some point became surrounded by people, including members of his own family, who saw him as a cash cow – and they are still trying to milk him for every cent.

After eight years as Obama’s VP, Joe Biden made a pretty penny as a speaker – mostly at colleges. But back then, he was somewhat more coherent, he hadn’t put the country through four years of disastrous Bidenomics, and he wasn’t demanding $300,000 a pop.

There are those who would prefer that Biden keep a low profile, especially when it comes to politics. Jill Biden’s former communications director, Michael LaRosa, recently suggested to The Hill that the Bidens were not popular in Democratic Party circles. “If they had advisers who had their hand on the pulse of the Democratic Party or national politics, they would have understood the intense level of anger or indifference to them that remains inside our party and isn’t going away anytime soon,” LaRosa said. He added “I love both Bidens dearly, but staff loyalty means there is a responsibility to provide them with an honest situational awareness, especially when it comes to their public image, no matter how hurtful it is to hear.”

The sad truth is that Joe Biden is almost certainly incapable of flying around the country making speeches. Why any close family members would even allow it is, one has to say, somewhat disturbing. All jokes aside, the man needs a simple, quiet, and permanent retirement. And Joe Biden, if he pursued that lifestyle, would perhaps finally perform his greatest service to his country.
