MSNBC, Under Fire for Racism, Deliberately Fat-Shames Black Hosts, Analysis Finds

Tactics include unflattering camera angles, deceptive proportionality, and nefarious juxtaposition

MSNBC

MSNBC has come under fire of late for its racist firing of Joy Reid, a proud black woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Many have also criticized the alarming pay disparity between the network’s prominent white hosts, such as Rachel Maddow, who makes $25 million a year to appear on television one night per week, and its non-white personalities. Most experts agree that MSNBC is racist, but the true extent of that bigotry is likely even more sinister than its harshest critics could ever imagine, according to the bombshell results of an exclusive Washington Free Beacon analysis.

Rachel Maddow Is the Boyish Face of White Supremacy at MSNBC

Some of the liberal network’s defenders have suggested MSNBC didn’t fire Reid because of racism by pointing out that her old time slot now features a trio of minority hosts: Symone Sanders, the former Democratic operative, Michael Steele, the former Republican who hates Donald Trump, and Alicia Menendez, the daughter of disgraced former senator and convicted felon “Bullion Bob” Menendez. Sanders and Steele are black, while Menendez is a member of the racial group formerly known as Latinx. That argument seems plausible at first glance until you consider the results of our analysis, which found that MSNBC has been waging a malicious campaign to shame Sanders, Steele, and other black personalities by making them appear fat on television.

MSNBC regularly deploys unflattering camera angles when Sanders and Steele appear on screen to distort their body shapes. Both are normal-sized individuals, unlike Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D., Ill.), who is legitimately fat. Nevertheless, MSNBC has weaponized the use of “cheap fake” cinematic relativity and deceptive proportionality to accentuate the alleged size disparities between the black cohosts, Menendez, and the small-bodied guests the network utilizes to facilitate its nefarious bigotry.

Deceptive proportionality

Nefarious juxtaposition

Sanders and Steele aren’t the only black hosts MSNBC has targeted because of racism. New addition Eugene Daniels, the former Politico reporter who was hired to cohost a weekend show, recently appeared alongside Sanders and Steele. The network’s cameras made sure to portray him in an unfavorable light.

Several observers have also raised questions about whether MSNBC executives favor the “apartheid” method of racial discrimination. Our analysis did not find enough evidence to refute this claim conclusively, but we will continue to investigate.
